The Institute for Theoretical Physics (IFT) in Madrid is offering 6 PhD positions for talented Early Stage Researchers within the framework of the "la Caixa" doctoral INPhINIT fellowships, in the fields of Particle Physics, Astroparticles and Cosmology.
The doctoral INPhINIT Fellowship programme aims to support the best scientific talent —of any nationality— and foster innovative and high-quality research in Spain and Portugal by recruiting outstanding international researchers and offering them an attractive and competitive environment for conducting research of excellence.
These are 3 year PhD positions at the top scientific research centers in Spain, accredited with the Severo Ochoa excellence award. Candidates are expected to have completed their Master by October 2020, to start the PhD studies. The international character of the program requires candidates to have not resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Spain for more than twelve months in the three years immediately prior to the deadline for applications.
On top of a competitive salary, the position offers a dedicated budget for short scientific visits to other research centers. In addition the IFT offers additional funds to attend schools or international workshops related to the PhD research topics.
The IFT is offering 6 projects within this Call:
- Strongly interacting quantum matter via holography (Prof. Karl Landsteiner)
- String Theory, Quantum Gravity and High Energy Physics (Prof. Luis Enrique Ibañez Santiago)
- Higgs physics at future collider experiments (Dr. José Miguel No Redondo)
- Heavy axions and ALPs (Prof. Belén Gavela)
- Dynamical evolution of primordial black hole clusters and their observational signatures (Prof. Juan García-Bellido Capdevila)
- Dark matter particle candidates and astrophysical dark matter searches (Prof. Carlos Muñoz López )
For more information about the description of the projects, please follow this link and select IFT - Institute for Theoretical Physics, Madrid, in the list of research centres.
IFT and La Caixa Foundation are equal opportunity institutions. Applications by female scientists are specially encouraged.
All individuals who hold a higher education degree at the time of starting at the host institutions, which allows them to enrol in an official doctoral programme in accordance with the regulations in force, are eligible to apply for the fellowship. This official university degree may be conferred by a university in the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) or a non- adapted EHEA one. In the latter case, studies taken up should make the individuals eligible to take up doctoral studies in the country where they earned their degree.
Under no circumstances may candidates have previously enrolled in the doctoral studies for which they are applying for the fellowship
The evaluation and selection of applications will be carried out by "la Caixa" Foundation taking into consideration the European Science Foundation’s recommendations published in the Peer Review Guide and are awarded on a competitive basis. The members of the shortlisting and selection committees choose the candidates who, in their opinion, accredit superior merits and capabilities.
