Falling Walls Lab Mexico 2020, a competition in partnership with EURAXESS

Pitch your idea and go to the worldwide finals! And more: EURAXESS LAC will provide you a high-quality online science communication training

The Falling Walls Lab (FWL) is an international forum for the next generation of outstanding innovators and creative thinkers. Its aim is to promote exceptional ideas and to connect promising scientists and entrepreneurs from all fields on a global level. Participants get the opportunity to present their research work, business model, or initiative to peers, a high-calibre jury made up of experts from academia and business, and the general public - in 3 minutes each.

Candidates from all areas of knowledge can apply until 31 July 2020. This year, given the context of social isolation due to the Covid-19 pandemic, all stages of the event, including the presentation, will be in a virtual environment.

The author of the best research project, business plan or social initiative is guaranteed a place on the Falling Walls Remote 2020: The Breakthroughs of the Year (held exceptionally online this year).

Who may apply?

Outstanding scholars, researchers, scientists, entrepreneurs, young professionals, and innovators. Candidates must fulfil at least one of the following formal requirements:

• You are currently enrolled in university

• You are currently a postdoc

• You received a Bachelor’s degree no more than 10 years ago

• You received a Master’s degree no more than 7 years ago

• You received a PhD no more than 5 years ago

* An MD (medical degree excl. a doctoral dissertation) is considered equivalent to a Master’s degree. A Dr. med. (medical degree incl. a doctoral dissertation) is considered equivalent to a PhD.

If you have already participated in a Falling Walls Lab (FWL) as a presenter, you are no longer eligible to apply.

EURAXESS LAC Prize

EURAXESS LAC will provide a high-quality online science communication training to the winner of the Falling Walls Lab in Mexico. The training will focus on equipping the winner with essential communication skills that are directly applicable to effectively presenting his/her innovative idea in a virtual setting. It will include individual (one-on-one) consultation and mentoring to prepare the winner for her/his participation in the “Falling Walls Breakthrough of the Year” competition. The winner will also have an additional networking opportunity since he/she will be able to connect with the winners of other Falling Walls Labs where a similar partnership between EURAXESS and Falling Walls is established.
