VRVis is a well-known Austrian research institute in the field of visual computing. To support our Biomedical Image Informatics Group, we are seeking an experienced and creative individual to join the research team in solving big data challenges. In close collaboration with one of our company partners in the field of neuroscientific pharmacological research, we are working on task-driven, web-based frameworks that incorporate visual analytics methods to explore heterogeneous neurobiological data.
Your main tasks will cover
Developing novel, as well as extending existing, neuroscientific data solutions in close collaboration with our company partner
Working with novel biological data, especially in the field of next generation sequencing
Acquisition of external funding preferably from industry
Presentation and publication of results
What you will bring to the team
PhD degree in computer science, bioinformatics, information systems, or a related field
Experience in applied visual analytics and visualization research (and a feeling for good design)
Proven experience in web development (Javascript, especially React.js)
Experience in programming application interfaces (e.g., GO, C++, etc.) or willingness to get into it
Interest in heterogeneous neuroscientific data (basic experience in neuroscience or RNA sequencing data would be a plus)
Excellent team player with eagerness to lead
English communication and (scientific) writing skills (additional German would be a plus)
What we offer in return
Salary according to collective labor agreement (IT-Kollektivvertrag) including bonus for 13th and 14th month, i.e., monthly min. 3,094 EUR with overpay depending on qualification and previous professional experience up to 3,945.90 EUR gross per month
Permanent position, preferably starting in October 2021
